Monument, Colorado, is undergoing notable transformations, marked by new housing developments, infrastructure enhancements, and community-driven initiatives.
Housing Developments
Several residential projects are underway to accommodate the town’s growing population. The Conexus Lot One project proposes a 23-acre subdivision featuring 158 units, including two-bedroom apartments and larger townhomes. This development aims to serve middle-income workers earning 80% to 120% of the area median income, with groundbreaking targeted for 2027.
Additionally, Thompson Thrift has commenced construction on The Maverick, a 300-unit luxury apartment community. This project is expected to welcome its first residents in February 2027, addressing the demand for upscale rental housing in the region.
Infrastructure Improvements
Infrastructure enhancements are also in progress. The Monument Fire District has broken ground on a new Fire Station 3 along Jackson Creek Parkway. The 17,000-square-foot facility will feature modern amenities, including a decontamination corridor to protect firefighters from hazardous contaminants. Completion is anticipated in the spring or summer of next year.
In nearby Colorado Springs, the Cache La Poudre Street Bridge over Monument Creek is undergoing renovations to improve safety and accessibility. The project includes replacing the bridge deck, widening sidewalks, and adding lighting, with the bridge expected to reopen in the fall.
Community Initiatives
Community engagement remains strong. Mountain View Electric Association recently hosted its second annual Mulch Madness event in Monument, where 178 residents participated in chipping and recycling tree limbs and branches. This initiative promotes wildfire mitigation and safe vegetation management practices.
Furthermore, a local blacksmith is creating a new giant troll statue for Palmer Lake, adding to Colorado’s collection of large troll sculptures. This project, initiated by the Awake the Lake organization, aims to enhance local art and attract visitors to the area.
These developments and initiatives reflect Monument’s commitment to growth, safety, and community engagement, ensuring a vibrant future for its residents.
